Long Fence at Merion Golf Club for US Open

Posted in: Long Fence News

Long® Fence provided chain link security fence panels and pedestrian barricades for the 2013 U.S. Open held June 10-16 at Merion Golf Club, East Course, 450 Ardmore Avenue in Ardmore, PA. Due to the location of this historic golf club and the limited access to off-site parking, a temporary pedestrian bridge had to be engineered and constructed over the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority tracks to safely convey U.S. Open attendees from Haverford College parking to the Marion Clubhouse. Long® Fence was contracted to custom manufacture and install chain link fence panels that would attach to the bridge railings in order to secure the sides and enclose the top. After the event, the bridge will be disassembled.

Long® Fence is currently installing 18,000 LF of pedestrian barricades for crowd control and restricted access in two locations, 9,000 LF off-site at satellite parking areas and 9,000 LF on the course itself. Four tractor-trailers were required to haul 18,000 LF of barricade fence to the event site.
