Pet Fencing Looks Great

We know that cost is an important consideration when making a decision like this. We work with a wide variety of materials and styles to make sure we fit your budget perfectly, small or large. Also, having a fence increases the value of your home, while making it look nicer for you.

But you don’t have to replace your current perimeter fence or put up a big fence surrounding your whole property. Many of our clients simply portion off some of their lawn for different reasons. You might have a pool or a grilling area you might want to keep your pets out of when they get on the rowdy side. There’s a lot of different options: we can split your yard in half to keep your dog away from the pool or cordon off your garden to keep them from digging up your flowers. Picket fencing is a great way to go for keeping up the aesthetics of the yard, while chain-link fence is an easy option to separate a play area for your pet. Of course, we offer plenty of gates to keep easy access to every part of your property.

Wood Pet Fences

Wood fences are a great option and a classic for a reason. Anice picket fence will always look good around a house, or maybe a vertical slat fence to offer more protection for your dog or cat. There are a couple of kinds of wood we work with mostly. First is Ecolife wood, with a natural preservative that protects the fence against unwanted pests and rot and decay. Cedar is another great option for a fence if you prefer non-treated wood. Cedar can last forever due to its natural oils, staying strong and looking great, eventually fading to a nice soft gray. Maybe your homeowner association requires a more open fence, but your dog is small enough to slip through the cracks. We can add mesh in the gaps to prevent escape.

We’ll mention two types – the privacy fence and the picket fence. The privacy fence has the slats pushed together, while a picket separates the slats. As you can imagine, the privacy fence offers more privacy because it’s nearly impossible to see through. And because the slats are right up against each other, it is stronger than the picket fence.

First, wooden fences (of either type) are usually quite sturdy, so they can handle bigger dogs jumping at them. Second, wooden fences (privacy type) typically scale in at five feet at the least and often reach seven feet – perfect for a dog that likes to jump or is an escape artist. The reason for this is the height (which is a natural deterrent) and the smoothness. There’s no way for a dog to get a foothold, so even the most experienced escape artists dogs have trouble getting out. In addition, the wooden slats (privacy type) tend to block out almost everything and offer privacy for the homeowner and a quieter environment for the dog. Also, wooden fences (privacy type) are ideal if your dog likes to bark at passersby or is afraid of other dogs or people.

They also tend to last for a long time. For example, wooden fences tend to last about fifteen years if they aren’t broken or destroyed by a natural disaster. However, if you take proper care of it, it can easily last twenty years or more.

Not to mention the beauty of an excellent wooden fence. You can get a lovely, picket, white-painted fence, and it raises your property value purely off the aesthetic. However, we know that a picket fence (with the slats separated) isn’t for everyone – it’s mostly there for aesthetic or keeping small dogs in. If you are looking for a good privacy fence option, woods like Cedar start a beautiful yellow and fade to a nice, soft gray over the years, giving your home an elegant look.

Chain Link Pet Fences

If you’re looking for a cost-effective option or have a large property, the chain link fence is for you.

Benefits? It’s much sturdier than a wooden fence and can last a long time. It’s more resistant to damage from natural disasters, storms, intense weather (snow, ice, etc.), and pests. And, if you have a bigger or more aggressive dog, the chain link fence is perfect! It keeps your dog in and keeps strangers out, which is a win-win situation.
Metal chain link fences last between twenty-five to thirty years, and vinyl link fences can last even longer: about forty years. For metal chain link fences, repairs are easy and very inexpensive. However, it takes significantly more time and money for vinyl link fences.

Conversely, chain link fences aren’t very secure – they can be relatively easy to climb over, and dogs that are escape artists can scale them. Chain link fences are typically only four or five feet tall, and, as mentioned before, the chains make it easy to climb over. That’s not even bringing privacy into the picture. A chain-link fence offers pretty much no privacy whatsoever. You can add bits of decorative plastic or slats, weaving them through the chain, but it won’t cover all of it, and there will be chinks that people can see through. These types of fences also don’t increase property value – if done poorly, they can decrease the property value.

Wire Pet Fences

Welded wire fence is better than a chain link and more secure. It’s a bit more expensive but much more durable. If taken care of, a welded wire fence can last fifty years!
An added benefit? Wire fence is much more sturdy than chain link and is harder to climb. So you get more bang for your buck!

You may be wondering – what’s the difference between the chain-link fence and a welded wire fence? They sound the same, and they’re made of the same materials! The answer? Yes, and no. They are both often made of metal, but the similarity ends there. In a welded wire fence, sections of the wire are… well… welded! This makes the entire fence stronger and makes it much more difficult to destroy. You can cut the wires with a pair of wire cutters with a chain link, and the fence immediately loses stability. On the other hand, you can cut some wires with a welded wire fence, and it does absolutely nothing.
Another benefit to welded wire fences is that you can have the thickness of the fence customized and the height!

This is the more secure option for those who can’t afford a wooden fence but want more security than the chain link.

Vinyl Pet Fence

Vinyl fence is another great no-hassle option, a great option for cheaper and no maintenance. They can be styled in a lot of different ways, perfect for any task, and can be easily made to look like wood. All you really need is a hose to wash it off. If there are tougher stains, or your dog has a particular spot, then just use a bit of soap. Vinyl is equally if not more customizable than wood, and we can do all the same different kinds of fences, including mesh if you want gaps in your fence.

I would recommend for future fencing needs.

I had a small fencing job to create a dog kennel in my side yard. Both the sales and services were responsive and accommodating. We got 3 estimates and Long Fence was the best overall value. I would recommend for future fencing needs.
